What can be done after an accident with an uninsured driver?

The law in Florida requires all drivers to have car insurance on their cars. This is because car crashes occur every day and many people have damage to their vehicles and suffer severe injuries as a result. These damages and injuries can be costly to the victim between car repairs or replacement and medical bills. Accordingly, the law wants to ensure that the innocent victims of the accidents receive the compensation they deserve through car insurance.

However, despite the fact that the law states that drivers are to have insurance, many drivers do not have it. In addition, there are many drivers who only have the minimum insurance required by law, but in many accidents the minimums do not pay for all the damages which can quickly rise. So, when a person is hit and injured by one of these drivers they can be left in a difficult situation since the uninsured drivers' themselves most likely will not have the money to pay for all the damages.

Victims who find themselves in this unfortunate situation may still be able to receive compensation though. They can do this by receiving it from their own insurance company if they have uninsured motorist coverage. The victim would simply submit a claim to their own insurance company and seek compensation. But, it is still important that the person's own insurance company pays them the full compensation they deserve and do not try to minimize the damages and ultimately the compensation.

There are many drivers in Florida without insurance and many cause accidents each year. This can make life difficult for the victims of the accidents, but all hope is not lost. The victims still may be able to file a claim with their own insurance company. And, just like a claim filed with another insurance company, the victim can file a lawsuit against their own insurance company to ensure they receive the full amount of compensation they deserve. Experienced attorneys understand how to handle insurance companies and may be a useful resource.
